The Effect of Status Changes of Workplace Discrimination on Maintaining Good Job and Moving for Better Job of Wage Workers with Disabilities

Abstract
This study aims to examine how workplace discrimination against disabled wage workers influences on maintaining good job and moving for better job through a longitudinal study. Using the data of Panel Survey of Employment for the Disabled
(PSED) for the third and the seventh year provided by Korea Employment Agency, this study is targeting a total of 686 disabled wage workers under the aged of 65 among 5,092 disabled individuals registered in the agency. This data is analyzed by using logistic regression analysis with SPSS to examine the workplace discrimination effect on employment retention in favorable jobs and job mobility. The results of the research are summarized as follows. First, the consistent absence of workplace discrimination was confirmed to have an positive influence on maintaining good job. Second, a change to the absence of workplace discrimination was determined to have negative effect on maintaining good job. Third, a change to the presence of workplace discrimination had a positive effect on moving for better job. Based on what has been found so far, the study provided some practical suggestions and political implications to secure good job retention and better job mobility of disabled wage workers.
